Beautifal Bosnia

Bosnia is a beautifal place to live. Bosnia is south-east Europe and is right next to Croatia. Bosnia and Rome have fought in one of the most diffucult battles in there histories since the Punic Wars.
Food
Bosnian food has a large Greek and Turkish influence. Bosnian desert mainly consist of fruits, creams, pancakes, cakes, and pasteries.Traditional Bosnian foods include bread, soups, stews, kebabs, cevapcici, stuffed leaves, and stuffed peppers. In Bosnia lunch is actually the main course instead of supper. Lunch in Bosnia usually consists of soup, meat with vegetables, salad, bread, and dessert.

Recipe for Pita Burek (Pita with meat)

Ingredients:

Filo dough
Oil
1 pound ground meat
1 onion, cut into small pieces
1 grated potato
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/3 cup warm water
1/2 tablespoon salt

Directions:

1. Put everything in a bowl and mix it.
2. Grease a 9- by 13-inch pan.
3. On a kitchen towel, put 1 sheet of filo dough, and spread a little oil on it. About 2 inches from the end of the long side of the dough, put some of the meat mixture (about 1 inch in width).
4. Roll the dough, starting at the side closer to the meat mixture.
5. Put into a greased pan, and put a touch of oil on the top.
6. Repeat procedure until you are all done with the dough.
7. Put into a 350°F preheated oven, and bake for about a 1/2 hour.
8. You can serve this meal with plain yogurt.

Bosnian Course






Communication
Bosnian people have spoken one language for more than a thousand years. The language that they speak is Serbo Croation. Although the people speak this language they say that they are speaking Bosnian. They have only one language but the Bosniaks have twon alphabets. One of the alphabets they use is Cyrillic letters. The Cyrillic alphabet was created in A.D 863 by two brothers named Cyril and Methodius. They originally made this alphabet with 43 letters but it has been reduced over the years.

Economy
Bosnia has had a very shocking increase of pollution of air, water, and land. They have made cleanup operations that begun in 1990 and will continue into the twenty-first century. Their agriculture logging, mining, manufacturing, and sevices are all great contributors to the economy. Even though the country is not very rich in minerals, they do have important supplies. Bosnia is extensive in mining coal, iron, copper, salt, and zinc.

Material Culture/ Daily Life

Most of Bosnia is just about only three religions. The religions the Bosnians are Islam (40%), Eastern Orthodox (31%), and Roman Catholic (15%). During the Medievel times Bosnia was mostly all Christian. In the 20th century people whose ancestors were Christian became considered as Bosnian Croats. Most Bosnians attend Sunday mass while few people go to daily mass.
